Welcome back to the new pre-season, Team Coolum.

We invite all surf sport masters and youth members and competitors to attend our first meeting for the new season to be held in front of the members area on Saturday 1 Aug 2020, 8am. The meeting may be moved inside if possible, depending on covid situation at the time.

There is much to discuss including financial constraints and sizable cuts to the surf sports budget as a result of Covid. The masters group may be the most severely affected through:
• No competition fees paid by the club this year.
• No board/ski repairs paid by the club this year.
• No 50/50 arrangements for this year.

We may have to come up with alternatives for training such as:
• Social paddles and wave riding sessions (ski and board), possibly once a week.
• Joint the 79’s who do ocean swims at 7.00am and 8.30am and a body surf session at 9am, every day of the week. (no cost to the club)

I would also like to talk about board allocations at the meeting.

It is fair to say that the nippers and our youth will use up most of the paid resources as they are the clubs proprieties. It is up to us (masters) to come up with a programme that will give us rescue fitness and patrol readiness, while having fun. I am sure we can make it work.

Nothing is set in stone at this stage. Let’s share some ideas at the meeting. All are welcome.
